FRANCE ANNOUNCE A RENEWED AGRICULTURAL AND FORESTRY PARTNERSHIP WITH MOROCCO

USPA NEWS - Marc Fesneau, Minister of Agriculture and Food Sovereignty, accompanied by leaders of inter-professions, sectors and French agricultural companies, is in Meknes in Morocco to participate in the inauguration of the 16th edition of the International Food Fair Agriculture in Morocco (SIAM), at the invitation of Mohammed Sadiki, Moroccan Minister of Agriculture, Maritime Fisheries, Rural Development and Water and Forests.
Marc Fesneau, Minister of Agriculture and Food Sovereignty, accompanied by leaders of inter-professions, sectors and French agricultural companies, is in Meknes in Morocco to participate in the inauguration of the 16th edition of the International Food Fair Agriculture in Morocco (SIAM), at the invitation of Mohammed Sadiki, Moroccan Minister of Agriculture, Maritime Fisheries, Rural Development and Water and Forests.
The agricultural sector is a pillar of the economy and identity of both France and Morocco and cooperation in this area, the historical foundation of the relationship between our two countries, covers many dimensions: education, training, research, health and phytosanitary.



The fruitful political dialogue initiated during Marc Fesneau's visit to Morocco last December and during the visit of his counterpart Mohammed Sadiki to the International Agricultural Show on March 1 in Paris gives new impetus to the partnership of exception that France and Morocco wish to build for the next decade.
In Meknes, this renewed partnership materialized through the signing of an ambitious agricultural and forestry roadmap which makes it possible to build a structured and dynamic framework for dialogue carrying new and ambitious projects between our two countries.



This document articulates the cooperation of the two countries around several axes: the transition towards resilient, sustainable and productive agricultural and forestry systems in a context of climate change and the strengthening of exchanges on the training of actors in agricultural and rural development and exchanges. scientists.
Illustration of the renewed dynamism of Franco-Moroccan cooperation, 8 professional and institutional agreements were also signed in the presence of the two ministers during the International Agricultural Show in Morocco:



· Cereal sector: framework agreement between Intercéales and the Interprofessional Federation of Cereal Activities (FIAC);

· Seed sector: framework partnership agreement between Semae and the National Interprofessional Seed Federation (FNIS);

· Dairy sector: framework cooperation agreement between Interbev and Maroc Lait;
· Sheep and goat sectors: memorandum of understanding between Races ovine des massifs Sélection (ROM Sélection), the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Regional Chamber of Agriculture and the National Sheep and Goat Association (ANOC);

· Oilseed sector: memorandum of understanding for the “FASEP Morocco” project between the Avril group, Agropol and the Interprofessional Federation of the Moroccan Oilseed Sector (FOLEA);

· Crédit agricole du Maroc (CAM) and the French development agency (AFD) signed a new program “Support for the fight against climate change and food security” with new financing of €72.1 million. AFD to the CAM which mobilizes co-financing from the Green Climate Fund.
Beyond these numerous actions relating to cooperation between our sectors, Morocco and France will work on new forms of collaboration and the dissemination of solutions in the areas of sustainable management of agricultural water, the fertility of soils, agroecology, organization of sectors and training.



Finally, the renewed cooperation aims to make the Franco-Moroccan couple a driver of change in the Mediterranean and Africa. This involves defending common positions and initiatives and developing joint projects, whether in the Mediterranean area or in partnership with sub-Saharan Africa.
Marc Fesneau declared: “Reciprocity, complementarity and pooling are the keys to the new agricultural and forestry partnership that France and Morocco wish to build.
